Steak Picado (Bistec Picado)



Steak Picado is a mildly spicy beef stir fry that brings together onions, bell peppers, garlic, and seasonings and transforms these ingredients into a mouthwatering, delicious meal. 
    
Steak Picado is one of the easiest meals to prepare and is a versatile recipe. Steak Picado is perfect for burritos, tacos, nachos, or as a topping on tostadas.





What you need for this easy meal:

All ingredients can be modified to your taste
  • Round steaks, or sirloin steaks, cut into strips 
  • Onion, thinly sliced
  • Bell peppers, cut into thin slices
  • Tomatoes, diced
  • Garlic cloves, minced
  • Jalapeño or Serrano ( for more spiciness)
  • Hatch chile strips (optional)
Seasonings: Cumin, black pepper, Chile Powder

How to Make Steak Picado


  • Heat a large frying pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meat on both sides, then add sliced onion and garlic.
  • Add bell peppers and jalapeño, and mix in tomatoes and cumin, dried cilantro, chile powder, and black pepper.  
  • Stir constantly until vegetables are slightly tender. Lower heat to simmer, cover, and cook for 45 minutes.

Ways to serve Steak Picado:

Steak Picado Taco - Top with avocado slices, guacamole, and Mexican crema for a delicious juicy taco. Serve with rice and/or beans.

Steak Picado Burrito - Fill tortilla with Picado meat & peppers, wrap and cover with juice from Picado, and top with cheese. 

Steak Picado Tostadas - Layer tostada shell with guacamole first, add Steak Picado, and drizzle with Mexican crema.
