This recipe is prepared during the holidays in Mexico. It's made with Mexican crema, sweetened condensed milk, so no need to cook any special sauce for today's version. Mexican Christmas Fruit Salad is usually served after feasting on tamales, ham, and posole...the perfect ending.
What's in Mexican Christmas Fruit Salad
The ingredients are simple and easy to find in your local grocery store.
- Mexican Crema (Mexican crema is similar to crème fraîche: it's a little runnier and tastes even tangier) or sour cream
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Pineapple Tidbits - Chunks can be used
- Apples - Granny Smith, Gala, Envy, Fuji, and Honeycrisp are the best choices.
- Pecans - Walnuts, and Almonds can be used.
- Raisins - Craisins can substitute raisins
- Coconut
- Maraschino Cherries
In a medium-sized bowl, add the crema, or sour cream, sweetened condensed milk, and pineapple juice from the can. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
In a large container or bowl, add the diced apples, pineapple tidbits, pecans, coconut, and raisins. Add sour cream mixture and blend well.
Top with cherries. Easy peasy!!

- 1 -14oz. can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 cup Mexican Crema, or sour cream
- 3 granny smith apples, washed and cut into bite-size cubes
- 3 Gala apples, washed and cut into bite-size cubes
- 1 20 oz can pineapple tidbits, drain, and reserve juice
- 1 cup (4oz.) pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 -14oz. package of sweetened coconut flakes
- 1 -12oz. jar Maraschino cherries, drained
Instructions:
- In a medium-sized bowl, add the crema, or sour cream, sweetened condensed milk, and pineapple juice from the can. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- In a large container or bowl, add the diced apples, pineapple tidbits, pecans, coconut, and raisins. Add sour cream mixture and blend well.
- Top with cherries.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
