It doesn’t take more than a bunch of simple, fresh ingredients to make Avocado Pico de Gallo, and it tastes so delicious every time… especially with a handful of tortilla chips and a cold drink! It makes the perfect accompaniment to grilled steak, in a burrito, on a taco, or topping for a rice bowl. Toss in some diced Serrano peppers if you like an extra kick of heat, but just a single pepper or two will be more than enough.

For this Recipe, you will need:
Avocado - Large ripe avocado, peeled and cubed
Tomatoes - Plum (Roma) tomatoes are traditional but any other tomatoes can be used. Deseed tomatoes.
Onions - Red onion, or white onions, diced
Chile Peppers - Serranos, or jalapeños, stemmed, deseeded, and diced
Garlic - Minced garlic
Cilantro - Just the leaves of cilantro, chopped
Lime - freshly squeezed
Salt to taste
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, and salt to taste. Let sit for 10 minutes for flavors to meld together.

Selecting an avocado -
- Ripe avocados will have a skin color that is dark green to nearly black.
- Gently squeeze the avocado. Is the avocado firm? Does it yield to firm, gentle pressure? Ripe avocados should yield to gentle pressure without leaving indentations or feeling mushy.
